Founded in June 2022 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, Montana Robotics Alliance (MTRA) advocates for youth robotics across Montana. Our mission is to inspire young people to become future science and technology leaders through exciting mentor-based programs that build essential skills in science, engineering, and technology, while fostering innovation, self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
As the Program Delivery Organization for the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and in collaboration with our partners, MTRA facilitates K-12 participation in robotics competitions that develop both technical skills and life competencies. Through mentorship from industry professionals and educators, students are encouraged to pursue STEAM careers.
Our operations are entirely volunteer-driven, with board members bringing over 20 years of experience managing FTC programs in Montana. Our team includes educators, parents, coaches, and professionals, and we collaborate with community volunteers to staff our three annual tournaments, which each require 40-50 volunteers.
To inspire and educate young people in STEAM fields through the FIRST robotics programs, fostering teamwork, leadership, and community engagement by teaching hands-on engineering, science, and technology skills that complement classroom learning.
To instill a passion for STEAM in Montana youth through robotics by promoting innovation, creativity, and collaboration in order to nurture lasting interest and engagement in future STEAM careers.
